It’s been a tough week for Gareth Southgate following England’s 1-1 draw with Denmark.
Even though the 2021 runners-up are all but guaranteed a spot in the knockouts, pressure has mounted on Southgate’s shoulders.
Criticisms around England’s performance have dominated discussions, with fans wanting to see the Three Lions boss ditch his typically conservative approach.
But Southgate has hit back, claiming England are ‘limited’ in the way they can set-up.
He said: “We are not pressing well enough, with enough intensity. We have limitations in how we can do that with the physical condition.
“We can’t press as high up the pitch as we might have done in the qualifiers, for example.
“And we are not keeping the ball well enough. We have to keep the ball better and build with more control.”
